Days off and the boys

We have had a chilly few weeks of -20's but it hit 5 degrees Sunday with similar forecast all week.

Monday morning was beautiful at Norquay. 3 runs with Seth while Marn and I did our 'first' runs of the year together while nana and gramps watched the boys. Super fun even if it was only Cascade chair groomers.

Getting ready

That afternoon took Seth out skate skiing on Spray Loop, loving the skis I bought off Steve - what a difference from rentals :)

Tuesday went to the big smoke / city of Calgary where I wish I had my bike - 10 degrees with sun shining. Jumped on the trainer that night for quick hour sweat.

This morning we all went x country on Spray Loop. First time pulling both boys along, damn 45 odd lbs is heavy. That was Marn's first time out this year, she was fired up and stoked to get out more now.

cutest outfit

Marn took the boys swimming this afternoon when I went to work. Seth decided to entertain the hot tub full of people with his first time saying ABC's and singing 'itsy bitsy spider'....too cute!

1st RMCC spin class

As we were unable to make last Friday's first RMCC spin class in Canmore due to the 35cms of snow - Keith, Annette and I were excited for this week's class.

Gary B laid down a usual suffer fest for us. Tour of Canmore simulation - Spray road back down to Silvertip climb to Harvie Heights. Loads of 4 -5 minute 'hard' efforts with standing in there. Almost passing  out by the end made for a beauty 1st class, 8 more Fridays to go. Enjoy these nights as a bit of a get away from the house and kids with some vino afterwards.

Days off coming up, Monday Norquay most likely with a skate ski thrown in there somewhere. Avi conditions are still through the roof so will play safe this week.

The boys

Relaxing days off, beautiful sunny days with plenty of fresh snow on the mountains and in town.

Went to Norquay Monday morning with Seth doing 3 runs on Cascade chair. Have him saying 'peanut butter' and 'jam' for left and right turning, so funny as he says this going down the run. Mondays are lessons for 3 year olds and up, so there are plenty of families we know in the lodge which keeps Seth entertained playing with other kids.

That afternoon I went for a jog with Rory in the Chariot. Home to town around Surprise corner, back down, back up hill, down St. Julien up Tunnel Rd to Buffalo Lodge then around closed road to Surprise corner. Quick stop at the little sushi store on Wolf St for california and spicy tuna rolls (this is my new fav store). 1.5 hrs all up :) Wish I wore my Garmin to track HR and elevation gains/loss

Tuesday went to play/library time for 2 year olds, fun 30 minutes of songs and games.  Little walk in the afternoon with boys, then went to park across street to play with Erin and Leland.

Time flew where did not have a chance to go on trainer but going skate skiing this morning with Seth as I work at 1:00pm today.

Cannot believe the avi ratings from a few days ago, have never seen 'Extreme' at Rogers Pass - scary stuff!! Hope it stabilizes this week as hope to go touring next week to the pass.

Pow in Banff

A few cms in the forecast a few days out turned into a solid 35 cms in town, let alone what the hills got. Norquay Big chair opened 1st time this season at 10am, would have been $$.

Little Rory growing

Last Sunday night, finally played squash with Cory for 1st time in months. Killer run as usual with us, so evenly matched. With my busy family life and his hockey schedule, we said we will make an effort to get out once every 2 weeks. Squash is a perfect "explosion"style workout, get those fast twitch fibers strong.

Tuesday we headed to Calgary for a little shopping and belated Christmas with Alida and family. Connor and Coleman are too cute as usual. We walked out of her house with a garbage bag of clothing and toys - thanx Ali.

After a several week deep freeze, temps rose to -1 this afternoon. Excited for upcoming days off to get outside and play. Bought Steve's skate skis this week so will try and get out with Marn and the boys.

On trainer earleir in the week for a quick 45 minutes. Rundle's Friday night spin classes at Life Works started this week but with the snow decided not to drive the sketchy roads - next week. Yesterday on trainer again with pyramid intervals.
30 sec on 30 off  1min on 1 min off  1.5 min on 1.5 min off  2 min on 2min off  2.5 min on 2.5 off
rest a few mins and go back down set. Repeated another set as well.

Days off

Rory has recovered nicely but keeping an eye on him while mostly staying inside this week being -20's for 1 week now.

-19 yesterday morning in our car but Norquay had somewhat of an inversion while being protected from the wind with the sun shining. Seth and Marn did 2 runs on the chair while Rory slept in the Chariot with me at the bottom. Half the time and fun though is hanging out in the lodge.

Came home, had lunch and put the boys to sleep where I headed to Cascade fire road for a skate ski with Scotty. Beauty time in the sun with heart rates up.

This morning we all went to Canmore for a grocery run. Afternoon I took Seth skate skiing on the Spray Loop where he passed out within 5 minutes. urrrggg another tough grind pulling him along but lovin it!! Marn just took Seth swimming at the Banff Springs while I am watching Rory sleep beside me.

X mas outfit, too cute!
